The New Enlightenment - One Year On
Last July, celebrated economists and business leaders gathered for the New Enlightenment conference, held at Adam Smith’s Panmure House in Edinburgh, to discuss Reshaping Capitalism & the Global Order in a Neo-Mercantilist World. A year later, they reconvened in an online panel discussion to reflect on developments in globalization and corporate governance.
The original event concluded with the signing of the Panmure House Declaration. This year’s event launched a report card against which the goals of the declaration will be revisited annually.
Panel discussions were chaired by David Teece and moderated by Harry Broadman. Featured speakers included Peter Schwartz, William Lazonick, Orville Schell, John Kay, Sarah Williamson, and Heather McGregor.
